Laurie Pickup is the International Director at Vectos, a transport-planning consultancy. He also holds an Honorary Professorship in European Transport Policy at the University of Aberdeen. He is a social psychologist that has worked in the transport sector for 45 years in Government research, academia and in consultancy. He has worked in a European environment since 1980, covering all 8 EC Framework programmes. A founding member of POLIS in 1988, he has been involved in many projects charting the rise of ITS from the DRIVE 1 programme to Horizon 2020. The focus of his work is on the people and the role of transport in their changing lifestyles. He has been working on the importance of generational values to explain how people accept or reject new mobility products and services.
